Discussion on Ausdispute

top What happened to the Ausdispute discussion forum?

When Ausdispute began, it had an online discussion forum. It has now (early 2006) been discontinued, because almost nobody was using it. In fact, the main users were spammers, posting messages that advertised dodgy products and services.

top What replaces the discussion forum?

We have a Listserv, which works by email. It has around 300 members. Whenever a member sends out a message, it goes out to all other members. But first it goes to the webmaster who checks that it is a valid message. Though this slows down the pace a little, it prevents two annoyances from reaching the list members: (a) "out of office" messages, automatically sent in response to any email received, and (b) spam messages. All messages sent are archived on the website.

To join the listserv, or read the archives, please visit listserv.business.unisa.edu.au/archives/ausdispute-l.html

Throughout 2005, the average number of messages has been around one per week. As some members have indicated that they don't want a lot of emails not addressed to them personally, if the volume of messages on the Listserv grows significantly, it will be divided into two: keeping the existing Listserv for announcements of general interest, and beginning a new one for those who want to engage in discussions.
