Welcome to the Australian Dispute Resolution web siteThis web site is dedicated to the peaceful resolution and management of
conflict and disputes through national and international collaboration and
information sharing. The Directory and website are unique in offering a comprehensive listing of associations, organisations and individuals involved in dispute resolution, including educators, trainers and a wide range of service providers in each Australian State and Territory. The first edition has been used extensively by brokers and consumers across Australia and there is a copy in most libraries. If your organisation is not yet registered, we encourage you to do so on the Website Directory page. What is Alternative Dispute Resolution?Dispute resolution is often referred to as ADR, that is alternative dispute resolution, resolution alternative to litigation. For discussion of alternative dispute resolution forms, visit Overview of Alternative Dispute Resolution on this website. Objectives of this web siteWe encourage you to share the view that where a disagreement cannot be resolved by direct discussion, other ways such as using a mutually-acceptable third party be attempted before deciding to go to court or leaving the matter unresolved. With this in mind, there are three objectives for this site:
Whether you are just visiting, or are seeking a dispute resolution practitioner, or you are a practitioner or dispute resolution organisation, we welcome you and look forward to your comments, suggestions, and continued involvement. This web site can become the prime site for information and debate in Australia and can be utilised by dispute resolution associations and organisations in a variety of ways. Who is responsible for the Australian Dispute Resolution web site? The Centre for Peace, Conflict & Mediation of the University of South Australia manages the Directory and web site. The Coordinator of the centre is Associate Professor Dale Bagshaw.
